Getting started: TradeCopier
Install, configure, and test in the only order we recommend: dry-run first, SIM second, small live last. Skipping steps is how copiers get a bad name.
1. Build and load in Quantower
- Unzip the TradeCopier package and open
TradeCopier.slnxin Visual Studio. - Build (Debug). The project outputs into Quantower's strategies folder and references
TradingPlatform.BusinessLayer.dll(v1.146.18) from your Quantower install. - In Quantower, add or refresh the TradeCopier strategy on your master connection — but don't start live trading yet.
2. Place followers.json
Copy followers.sample.json into the strategy folder, rename it to followers.json, and edit it with your follower accounts, multipliers, and symbol maps:
C:\Quantower\Settings\Scripts\Strategies\TradeCopier\followers.jsonIt must sit as a plain file in that folder — not in a subfolder. Comments and trailing commas are allowed in the file.
3. Start and check the log
Start the strategy with the master switch OFF (the default). In the strategy log, look for:
MASTER ACCOUNT: …
FOLLOWER READY: MFFU-EVAL-1 …
COPY entry → follower MFFU-EVAL-1 : 0.83 ms (dry-run)4. The safe test sequence
- Dry-run first (switch OFF). Trade a full session on the master — entries, scale-ins, partial exits, bracket moves — and read the log end to end. Every event should produce a
DRY-RUN would PlaceOrder/ModifyOrder/CancelOrder …line with the exact order it would have sent. - SIM follower second. Point a follower at a simulated/paper account, turn the master switch ON in the strategy panel, and repeat. Verify fills, bracket behaviour, and the
LINKED:lines, and confirm brackets land on the follower position. - Small live last. Set multipliers low (e.g. MNQ 1.0) and/or
maxQuantity: 1on the real follower. Confirm Quantower's order history matches the master trade-for-trade before raising sizes.
5. Safety lines — stop and look
ERROR executing … NOT retrying
RECONCILE MISMATCH …
WARNING: follower position … closed independentlyThese are not "the copier handled it" messages. They mean a person should review what happened before trading again.
Support expectations
Email support for setup and configuration questions, answered in the order received — typically within 1–2 business days. Support covers the software; it does not include trading advice, strategy advice, or help with prop-firm rule disputes. If a safety log line appears, include the relevant log excerpt in your message (remove account IDs you don't want to share).
